A canopy of pixel-patterned leaves sets this Calathea apart from its sisters. Unlike other Calathea, the musaica Network doesn’t have the usual velvety purple undertones or discus like prints, and instead focus is drawn to its papery thin foliage. These glossy rippled leaves are almost cybernetic in pattern with its matrix-like variegation, reminiscent of all things sci-fi. Forward thinking foliage for cutting edge architecture.

Horty Hints
Going ’round the twist! If the leaves on your calathea have started to curl, your plant needs a drink.
Water or steam! Crispy leaf edges might also be a watering issue as this plant is sensitive to chlorine in tap water. If your plant has plenty of humidity, try using distilled water. Brown tips may occur.
Might that be mites? Calathea are very susceptible to spider mites, which are not usually spotted until it is too late. Routinely check on the underside of leaves to see if there is any webbing along the veining.
Light
Calathea need plenty of diffused, bright light. Direct light will burn the leaves or cause them to fade. Can tolerate some degree of shade, but variegation may fade. Experiment in your home to find the perfect spot for your plant.
Watering
Calathea must be kept in damp soil at all times, but definitely do not allow the plant to sit in water or in very wet soil. Think little and often as a watering policy.
Temperature
Prefers warm to high temperatures, ideally between 18-23°C but can cope with as low as 15°C. Avoid draughts and ensure the plant has reasonable ventilation.
Humidity
High humidity levels are a must. Stand on a wet pebble tray to improve humidity and mist frequently. Pop it in the shower room or kitchen from time to time to give an extra boost.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of a nitrogen rich foliage fertiliser once or twice a month during the growing season.
