Ficus elastica Abidjan – Burgundy Rubber Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Go big or go home! Ficus elastica can grow up to 30ft tall. When desired height is achieved, simply cut the top off.
Insufficient light can trigger leaf drop! Find a more suitable location and your plant should quickly recover.
Sticky latex will ooze from the ends of the cut stems. This can be an irritant, so make sure to wash your hands afterwards.
Light
Ficus elastica Abidjan prefers bright, indirect light but does cope quite well in lower light conditions. Avoid direct sunlight as this may scorch the leaves.
Watering
Water when the soil starts to become slightly dry at the top. Keep the soil lightly moist at all times, but do not overwater as this will cause leaf drop.
Temperature
Elastica Abidjan does well in normal household temperatures, but prefers slightly warmer conditions: around 16-24°C. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
This Ficus has no specific humidity requirements, although it will benefit from an occasional misting. For an added boost, consider moving your plant to a steamier room such as a kitchen or bathroom.
