Peperomia verticillata is also known as Red Log Radiator Plant. It is an attractive flowering variety with beautiful red undersides and dark green leaves. As with all radiator plants they are ideal for growing in low or fluorescent light, making it perfect for offices and shady spots.
Radiator plants are very much on trend and are very easy to look after.
Please note: the stems and leaves on this plant are very fragile and despite our best efforts some may be lost during transit.
Peperomia verticillata Red Log – Radiator Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Off to the chop shop! Pepromia Red Log can sometimes become a bit straggly. A quick trim of the lower outer leaves will encourage a fuller, bushier growth.
Brighter isn’t always better! If the light is too bright, the deep green coloured foliage will fade. Move to a more shaded location to maintain the striking colour contrast.
How much is too much? This semi-succulent is sensitive to overwatering. Too wet and it will rot, too dry and it will die. When the soil has nearly dried out, give it a little drink.
Light
Peperomia are fine in moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. Ideal for the office or a basement flat as they do well under fluorescent lights.
Watering
Water when the soil has almost dried out. Do not overwater. Use soft water if possible and water from below. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant.
Temperature
Peperomia verticillata prefers average to warm temperatures from 18-24°C but can cope with as low as 10°C at a push. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but they do just fine in normal household conditions. Consider misting occasionally.
Feed
Apply a half-strength balanced fertiliser once or twice during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
This Peperomia is a slow-growing plant which typically reaches an ultimate height of around 20 to 30cm.
Toxicity
This Peperomia is considered non-toxic and is therefore safe to keep around children and pets.
Origin
Peperomia verticillata is native to sun-tropical regions such as the Caribbean.
