Sansevieria trifasciata Black Coral is a stunning, almost gothic, example of Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, with dark green, almost black colouring and wavy horizontal bands of white-grey-green.
Snake Plants are extremely sturdy and resilient houseplants. The worst thing you can do is over-water them, they cope much better with neglect!
Please note: some scarring may occur on the leaves.
Sansevieria trifasciata Black Coral – Snake Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
Happy families! You can propagate your Sansevieria by gently removing any Black Coral “pups” (smaller self-contained leaves), cutting directly below the root and placing them into a seperate grow pot.
Ensure your Black Coral has adequate drainage to allow any excess water to drain to avoid its roots becoming waterlogged and risking root rot.
Shabby but fabby! Scarring can occur on your Black Coral’s leaves, this is completely normal and adds to its stunning shabby-chic appearance.
Light
Sanseviera Black Coral does best in moderate to bright, indirect light, but can also adapt to low light conditions if preferred.
Watering
Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering. Water thoroughly and allow to drain freely. Don’t allow to sit in water as this will cause root rot.
Temperature
This Snake Plant is happy in places with temperatures between 15°C and 23°C and can tolerate temperatures as low as 10°C for short periods.
Humidity
Black Coral will do fine in normal household humidity. Avoid humid locations but if brown tips develop, consider occasional misting.
Feed
Apply a weak dose of cactus or general purpose feed once a month at most during the growing season. Sansevieria are low maintenance plants and don’t need a lot of food.
